Though something of a local institution Dounias Restaurant is a recent addition to la Maison’s recommendations. A picturesque 30 minute drive thoughthrough Theriso Gorge and a little further on to Drakonas village brings you to this unpretentious restaurant which prepares traditional but exciting food from ingredients grown organically on their farm. Delicious salads, ripe cheeses preserved in olive oil, unusual vegetarian dishes, slow braised goat, lamb cooked in paper parcels…. Delicious. Cooking is done over wood fires. You can wander through their farm and through their kitchens. Not to be missed.
